Hike Report
We went to Jordan Pond because of Jordan Pond House, a well known restaurant on Mount Desert Island. But really, the walking trails around the pond were what made it memorable for me, not the restaurant itself.
This was for our first anniversary getaway, which we took a few weeks early, since Laura was pregnant, and I was afraid she wouldn't enjoy the trip if we waited much longer.
The trails are extremely well marked, and not just well marked - they are as smooth as some roads in Maine!
The beginning of the trail
There were quite a few people around in the vicinity of the restaurant, but once we got out along the edge of the pond, it was much more quiet and peaceful.
The view from the pond's edge was beautiful.
In the woods we saw some interesting vegetation, including these two trees which were closely twined together:
Married trees?
The trails are extensive, but because of Laura's "condition," we didn't explore very far. We agreed that someday we would like to come back and explore further.
